9 Arizonians make 2019 Forbes Billionaires List

Nine Arizonans made Forbes' annual list of the world's billionaires.

The faces are familiar including Discount Tire founder Bruce Halle, who is the richest person in Arizona with a net worth of $5.9 billion. With his fortune, Halle ranked No. 284 on the Forbeslist, the highest ranking Arizonan.

He was followed by Mark Shoen of U-Haul International parent company, Amerco (Nasdaq: UHAL), who has a net worth of $4.6 billion. Shoen was ranked No. 352 overall.

According to Forbes, the world has 1,826 billionaires, or people with a net worth of at least $1 billion. This year's list included 290 newcomers.

The list is dominated by Americans, with 350 making the prestigious top 1,000. China had 71 billionaires.

The average billionaire, according to Forbes, had a net worth of $3.86 billion.

Microsoft founder Bill Gates topped the list with a net worth of $79.2 billion. He was followed by Mexican telecom businessman Carlos Slim, who is worth $77.1 billion and investor Warren Buffett, whose net worth is $72.7 billion.
