Right Brain or Left Brain? Artist Debra Lee Murrow Helps "Find the Artist Within"

Scottsdale is home to artists of all types. Some artists come to Scottsdale for the natural beauty and the desert landscapes just outside the city limits. Others are attracted to the wealth of galleries around the Valley in which to show their work. And then there are those artists who seem to fit into neither camp, but create a niche of their own in the process. Debra Lee Murrow of Scottsdale is one of those artists.

Debra is known around the Valley as the artist behind the COLORME Art Spa. It’s an art-teaching and art-classes company that offers interactive art and birthday art experiences to companies, non-profit organizations, church groups, and others. In recent years, Debra has brought her live art talents and teaching talents to holiday parties, ladies’ nights out, weddings, birthday parties, teen groups, seniors groups, church events and more.

What makes Debra’s work so unique is the flowing style of words and phrases interwoven into her bold and thin brush lines made with her Pentel pen brush. For a wedding design, she will bring together the bride and groom’s names in wondrous ways in the painting. In a church group, she will sprinkle scripture throughout a piece, to allow those who color upon the art piece to feel a sense of the spirit power emanating within the art. She also brings her designs and styles to a wide variety of items, including shrink plastic necklaces, holiday tree ornaments, name cards and even pillowcases!

Because of Debra’s high profile online and throughout the Valley, she is expanding her borders a bit. She’s been tapped to provide the celebrity backdrop and provide interactive coloring art at a celebrity gifting event on May 5-6, 2017 before the May 7th MTV Movie & TV Awards in Los Angeles, CA. At the event, Debra’s pre-created canvas backdrop will provide the style and look for celebrity photographs. In addition, Debra will create a one-of-a-kind art canvas for the stars to add their splashes of color to at the event. It promises to be a memorable weekend!

It all adds up to a busy schedule for this artist-teacher-mother-wife. Debra tends to downplay all the work, saying merely, “I want to help others experience art. My tagline is to ‘Help Others Find the Artist Within.’ We can all do it, but so many people say they can’t sing, or they can’t do art. But I show them in simple ways that indeed, you can do art, and you can develop your other inner talents along the way!”
