Local chef Tina Padilla expanded her popular catering company to the brick and mortar restaurant location about three months ago. Best known for her delicious homemade chicken, pork and veggie tamales, Padilla already had a strong following in Phoenix and Scottsdale that have welcomed her authentic Mexican cuisine at Indian Bend and Scottsdale Road.
“I am absolutely thrilled that I am able to live my dream to own a restaurant and experience the outpouring of support from our customers,” Padilla said. “We value each customer’s feedback as we continue to refine the selections we offer.”
Tia Shorty’s serves homemade, authentic Mexican enchiladas, carnitas, shrimp tacos and chili Colorado, with some of their most popular dishes tamales, Albondigas Soup, and churros drizzled in chocolate and cinnamon.
Each dish is lovingly created and guests feel like they are being served straight from their grandma’s kitchen. Tina greets as many guests as possible in between making the next batch of her famous tamales. With its artistic, modern decor, Tia Shorty’s is also a great place to grab margaritas, salsa and Tia’s famous guacamole before or after a night out in Scottsdale.
“I am so grateful for the opportunity to expand my business and partner with my son-in-law Alan,” Padilla said. “We want everyone who comes to our restaurant to enjoy the atmosphere and food as much as we do!”
Tina Padilla, or Tia “Aunty” Shorty (the name comes from being the youngest and shortest of her four sisters), has always had a passion for preparing fine, authentic Mexican food. Growing up in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, Padilla was taught how to cook rich and flavorful dishes from her grandmother. She spent most of her life working as an accountant, but has sold tamales and catered special events for years.
Now nearly two decades later, her dream of sharing this great food with the Valley is finally a reality, thanks to a family partnership with her son-in-law Alan.
Tia Shorty’s is located in the Seville Shopping Center at Indian Bend and Scottsdale Roads in Scottsdale nestled amongst one of Scottsdale’s finest selections of high end retailers, jewelry, rugs, bridal, restaurants and spa services. It has happy hour daily from 4-6 p.m. offering delicious tacos, Agua Frescas and a variety of other small plate entrées and beverages. http://scottsdaleseville.com/
