Smart Home Technology

Smart home technology has achieved mainstream status in the United States. According to the Smart Home Marketplace Survey, almost half (45%) of all Americans either own smart home technology or plan to invest in it this year. Also, 54% of homeowners said they would purchase or install smart solutions if they were selling their homes to improve the chances of a quicker sale.

Here are some new and innovative smart home devices:

  • Presence. An outdoor security camera that can distinguish between animals, cars, and people – and allows users to tell it what to watch for and where to watch for it.
  • Halo Smoke Alarm. A device to detect the differences between fast- and slow-moving fires. It can also alert homeowners of hurricanes, tornado warnings, and other important weather conditions.
  • 5L. A smart showerhead that uses only five liters of water – and less energy than a computer uses in one hour.
  • WeMo Insight Switch. A smart power outlet that connects appliances and electronic devices to a Wi-Fi network, allowing homeowners to remotely turn devices on or off as well as program customized notifications.
  • Philips Hue. A smart light bulb that wirelessly controls the color and intensity of home or office lighting.
